DUHS Have Been Assigned MDCAT 2024 Responsibility

We have a major announcement for the medical field students in Sindh! In a significant development for medical and dental aspirants in Sindh, the Dow University of Health Sciences DUHS has been assigned the responsibility of conducting the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test MDCAT 2024. This decision follows the announcement by the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro (LUMHS) that it could not oversee the MDCAT test this year. The Sindh Health Secretary Rehan Baloch has officially notified the public of this decision, confirming DUHS's role in conducting the MDCAT 2024. MDCAT is a most crucial test for students to successfully get admission in medical and dental colleges in Sindh. Read further details below regarding DUHS’s responsibility of conducting the MDCAT.

Third Consecutive Year for DUHS

Including this year it will be the third consecutive year that DUHS will administer MDCAT for admissions to both private and government medical and dental institutions across Sindh. The MDCAT is a crucial examination for students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges in the province. The finalized DUHS MDCAT date will also be announced soon according to Sindh Health Secretary Rehan Baloch.

Ensuring Fairness and Transparency

The decision for LUMHS to step down from conducting the MDCAT test this year was influenced by LUMHS Vice Chancellor Dr. Ikramuddin Ujjan, who cited a potential conflict of interest as his son would be participating in the MDCAT exam this year. To ensure fairness and transparency, Dr. Ujjan suggested that another university take over the responsibility of MDCAT this year. Initially, there were discussions about the possibility of People’s Medical University Nawabshah or Larkana Medical University potentially conducting the MDCAT test this year. However, officials have ultimately decided to entrust DUHS with the task.

Previous MDCAT Administration

It's worth recalling that last year’s MDCAT was also conducted by DUHS after the initial MDCAT test 2023, organized by Jinnah Sindh Medical University, and was canceled due to allegations of a paper leak. With DUHS entrusted with the responsibility once again, students can expect a fair and transparent administration of this year’s MDCAT too, ensuring a smooth process for admissions to government and private medical and dental colleges in Sindh.
