MBBS at a Government Institute
Government sector medical colleges ensure to provide quality education to produce credible healthcare professionals. However, admission at a government medical college is based on merit only. Government medical colleges have limited seats, so students fulfilling the merit criteria are offered admission.
Private MBBS
Students who do not get the chance in government medical colleges apply for private MBBS. Private sector institutes also have specific eligibility criteria which must be fulfilled. Moreover, candidates can also apply on a self-finance basis in a private medical college.

Eligibility Criteria
The basic eligibility criteria for admissions to MBBS are as follows.
- Intermediate (Pre- Medical) or equivalent education with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Candidates must appear for a Medical and Dental College Admission Test.
- The minimum score in MDCAT for MBBS is 55%.
- Some private medical colleges also include an interview session of participants.
MBBS Admission Process
The admission process for MBBS begins after the candidates successfully conclude intermediate or equivalent education. Candidates then appear for the medical and dental college admission tests. After the entry test, medical colleges begin admission. Candidates must submit the admission form within the due date to avoid inconvenience.
Medical Colleges declare their merit lists, and students who fall on the merit criteria are granted admission. Since government medical colleges have specific seats, the remaining students apply for private medical colleges.

Medical Colleges announce their admissions and last dates as well. The admission process begins right after the Medical and Dental College Admission Test. Candidates are advised to apply within the due dates to avoid inconvenience.
MBBS Study Duration
MBBS is five years, during which students are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge, followed by a house job for a year.
